Collier man still missing, family remains hopeful

Published: Updated:

NAPLES, Fla. — Sunday marks two weeks since Collier County deputies suspended the search for Jamie Curtis, a missing 27-year-old man with Asperger’s Syndrome.

Curtis went missing Sept. 16 when he ran into the woods off Immokalee and Jones Mining roads after his mother pulled over.

Authorities conducted a search of the area until calling off the search Sept. 18.

Betty Gosnell, Curtis’s mother, recalls Curtis being paranoid before he went missing, thinking people were out to get him.

“My son could be anywhere out there,” Gosnell said. “We still would like people out on Immokalee Road anywhere near the swamp to keep an eye out for my son.”

Curtis’s family hopes to conduct another search soon. If anyone has seen Curtis or has any information, please contact the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
