Boca Grande beaches nearly deserted after swell of red tide

BOCA GRANDE, Fla. – Beaches were nearly deserted Friday afternoon after red tide left a surprise of dead fish for tourists. The toxic algae prompted a change of plans for some visitors, while a few people braved the smell but avoided the water.
