NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. – Three vehicles became involved in a wreck after a driver failed to stop behind a LeeTran bus on Cleveland Avenue just north of Pondella Road before 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Mary Morris, 70, of North Fort Myers, was driving northbound on Cleveland Avenue in her 2010 Mercury behind the LeeTran bus, which was stopped in the outside lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Morris’ car hit the left corner of the back of the county bus, then began to rotate in the street before striking the 2016 Dodge driven by James Sackos, 42 of Cape Coral, an FHP trooper said.

Morris was taken to the hospital. A passenger in Sackos’ vehicle, Michelle Sackos, 43, of Cape Coral, was also taken to Lee Memorial Hospital, according to FHP. Both women had minor injuries, a trooper said.

The crash closed northbound lanes of Cleveland Avenue at the intersection of Pondella Road for several hours.
