Deputies: Florida trooper groped, kissed woman during traffic stop

TAVARES, Fla. (WKMG) – A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of groping and kissing a woman whom he pulled over for a traffic stop in Lake County.

David Gonzalez, 35, was arrested on charges of battery.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office, a 21-year-old woman reported that she was pulled over by Gonzalez earlier this month for speeding along U.S. Highway 441 in the area of the VIA|Port Mall.

The woman said Gonzalez had her move her vehicle to a side street after complimenting her about her appearance, according to deputies.

The woman said she was asked to step out of her car, and Gonzalez took her phone and added himself to her Snapchat account before taking a selfie with her, according to authorities. The woman said Gonzalez hugged her, kissed her and groped her breast against her will, according to officials.

Detectives said they monitored a Snapchat conversation between the woman and Gonzalez on Tuesday, and he made statements that confirmed the woman’s account of the traffic stop.

Gonzalez was arrested and booked in to the Lake County Detention Center. He’s being held on a bond of $10,000.
