PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – A private equity group has proposed 450 acres of new homes, retail and a hotel at the vacant Murdock Village Community to county commissioners in a special meeting Tuesday. Murdock Village at 18500 Murdock Circle has been vacant for more than a decade after two developers failed to revitalize the property and the city acquired it through eminent domain. The group’s project would cost $12 million and requires bids from interested developers. Experts predict the new development of Murdock Circle would bring nearly 400 permanent jobs to Port Charlotte.
