Fort Myers attorney arrested for third time

Published: Updated:

FORT MYERS, Fla. — David Brenner, a well-known Fort Myers defense attorney, was arrested again, his third arrest since 2012.

Brenner, 56, is in jail facing charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and battery. It is still unclear what led to the arrest.

Brenner was first arrested in 2012 for domestic violence after attacking his girlfriend. He was also arrested in 2014 after being accused of attacking a man outside of a downtown sports bar.

That case was closed.

Brenner has represented Casey Ortiz, a former Cape Coral officer convicted of having sex with a minor while on duty.

He also represented Robert Dunn, who murdered his wife in 2008.

Brenner will have his first court appearance tomorrow morning.
