Lee County school district introduces new security plan

Published: Updated:

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Lee County school district introduced on Tuesday several security measures that include hallway, stairwell and restroom checks and the use of cameras and guard houses as part of a new security plan.

The implementation of the new security plan will also coincide with reports of more incidents, district officials said. Superintendent Greg Adkins said parents and students can expect regular checks in each school.

“You are going to see active inspection of these plans on a very regular basis — people from the district office that show up unannounced to make sure the protocols are being followed with fidelity,” Adkins said.
