Heroic Naples couple saves man from burning car

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. — A Naples couple are being hailed as heroes after saving a man from a burning car while on vacation.

Emily Bronzini and boyfriend Gardy Bradley were driving to Connecticut for a wedding when they came across a car on fire and two people trapped inside. Ahuja Sandeep, 27, apparently lost control and drove off the road, striking a guard rail, then a tree.

The couple immediately sprang into action.

“We were trying to figure out if anyone else was in the car, like a kid in the back seat,” Bronzini said.

Bradley, a Collier County EMT, rushed to help the people in the car. Bronzini pulled out a fire extinguisher she and Bradley purchased the day before, which bought them and two other good Samaritans enough time to pull out an unconscious Sandeep before the car burst into flames.

“He wanted to get a fire extinguisher for whatever reason — its good to have one — so it worked out really well,” Bronzini said.

The passenger in the car managed to get out of the car on his own.

Bradley, Bronzini and the others who stopped waited until the medics came. Both Sandeep and the passenger are expected to be OK.
