Goodland man dies when car hits gator

EAST NAPLES, Fla. — A driver from Goodland died Friday when his 2007 Saturn hit an alligator that was in the way on State Road 92, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Robert Nash, 50, was headed northbound toward Curcie Road at about 5 a.m. when he ran over the gator and began to spin, according to FHP. The Saturn went into mangroves and wound up partially submerged in a canal.

The size of the alligator is unclear. No further information is immediately available.
