Courtesy of Orlando Modern Quilt Guild DELAND, Fla. (AP) – After the Pulse nightclub shooting, the president of the Orlando Modern Quilt Guild put out a call on social media for fabric and supplies. It was all part of the “Quilts for Pulse Project.” Her plan was for the guild to assemble 102 quilts to give to victims of the shooting and their families. Click Orlando reports that Alissa Lapinsky has received a bigger response than she dreamed. The group has over 1,000 packages from twenty countries. They have enough supplies to make over 1,000 quilts. Lapinsky says that’s enough for everyone involved, first responders, hospital workers and family members to receive a Pulse inspired quilt. Most are made in a pattern of hearts. She’s also received completed quilts, many with beautiful custom designs.
