ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – Store owners whose properties are near the site of the Orlando nightclub massacre are planning to meet to discuss how the fallout of the shooting is affecting their businesses.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that owners have been reluctant to place themselves before the more dire needs of the community, especially shooting victims and families, but at the same time they say their businesses have been adversely affected since the June 12 attack inside the Pulse nightclub. Among their complaints is that people who are coming to pay their respects frequently park in private businesses’ lots.

Downtown South business district Executive Director Sarah Elbadri says a town-hall meeting is tentatively scheduled Sept. 7 to discuss the situation. The meeting will be closed to the public and only for local businesses.
