FORT MYERS, Fla. – The body of a 25-year-old man was found behind a gas station Friday night.

The body of Willie James Moore Jr. was found behind the Racetrac under construction at 4551 S. Cleveland Ave., said his aunt, Dorothy Davis.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident as a homicide.

“We got loved ones being shot, kids that don’t even have the chance to live a life being shot down by people who just want to shoot somebody because they got a little incident going on,” she said.

Moore ended up at the gas station after an altercation at a nearby Travelodge, a law enforcement source said. While there, a vehicle entered the parking lot with two women inside and Moore attempted to carjack it, the source said.

Moore, who the women were able to get out of their vehicle, then went behind the gas station. Moments later, gunshots were heard, the source said.

Moore’s dead body was discovered when authorities arrived. He died from a gunshot wound, the source said.

“i know who did it, you know who you are, and God have mercy on you,” said Davis, who added that she helped raise Moore.

No further information was immediately available.
