ROANOKE, Texas (KTVT) — Some neighbors have become closer thanks to a missing dog and social media.

Edgar, a 1-year-old pup, proved difficult to locate when he went missing, so owner Suzie Gnade posted on the Nextdoor app asking neighbors for help.

“Instantaneously there were at least 25 cars, circling the neighborhood, looking for Edgar,” said Suzie’s husband, Jeff Gnade.

Hundreds of Nextdoor posts about Edgar have popped up, including techniques about how to catch him and photos from brief Edgar sightings. More than six weeks have passed since the dog went missing, but helpers continue to search.

Edgar’s previous owner is in on the effort, having made a recording of her voice that the Gnades are using to try to lure the dog home.

Some neighbors thought they’d found Edgar, but it was the wrong dog. Still, the Gnade children have grown attached to that dog, so when Edgar returns, he’ll have a playmate.
