Second Florida medical pot dispensary opens

CLEARWATER, Fla. — The second legal medical marijuana dispensary opened Thursday, joining an initial location that opened last month in Tallahassee.

Trulieve is operating both and has plans for several additional locations later in the year, the company said in a press release. The dispensary opening Thursday, at 24761 U.S. Highway 19 N. in Clearwater, is closer to Southwest Florida than the first.

Trulieve makes cannabis products available to patients listed on the Florida Department of Health’s Compassionate Use Registry. Patients must be registered after visiting with a physician and are eligible if they suffer from epilepsy, severe seizures or muscle spasms, cancer, or are deemed “terminally ill,” according to the company.
