LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- A 15-year-old was arrested by U.S. Marshals Monday at Lehigh Senior High School and faces an attempted murder charge in connection to what authorities described as a random attack.

Officials say last week, John Destrat and three others went to a home on Willard Street to look for a man who sold bikes in the area.

The 63-year-old victim, Frank Celestin, told authorities Destrat pushed him to the ground and was handed a gun by Kerry Antoine, 21, who encouraged the teen to shoot the victim.

“Push me into the bicycle. After that, mash up me right there. He tell me never mind, he don’t want bike. He just coming to kill me,” Celestin said.

Teen pulled the trigger four times, attempting to shoot him but the gun failed to work, Celestin told authorities.

“Put the gun right there. After that ‘Psh!’ Bullet no coming out. Beat you up with the gun all over. Put the gun there. Four times. Three times. ‘Pah, pah, pah!’ Lot of blood,” Celestin said.

The gun misfired every time, possibly because the wrong ammunition was placed in its barrel, the report said.

Destrat then hit the victim on the side of the head with the gun, sending him to the hospital, police said.

Antoine was also arrested by authorities and is facing charges for attempted murder.
