Port Charlotte Chick-fil-A seeks hugs for charity

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — A chicken restaurant is hoping you won’t be too chicken to accept a hug from someone you may not know.

Owner/Operator Edward Leslie and other leaders from the Port Charlotte Chick-fil-A, 1814 Tamiami Trail, will give a hug to anyone who wants one between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday. The restaurant will donate $1 to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Employee Assistance Fund and the Charlotte County Fire & EMS Benevolent Fund for each free hug they give.

The goal is to raise $2,500. Firefighters and members of the sheriff’s office will be on hand, and a bounce house from Do the Happy Bounce will be set up, the restaurant said.
