WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A 12-year-old boy from Port St. Lucie was bullied at school for years, but one thing that helped him get through that was Gwen Stefani’s music.

This week, the star that Brandon Burford looks up to honored him in a big way.

The No Doubt co-founder spotted a sign in the audience that Burford’s mother made. She had the sign brought up to her and read it during her performance in West Palm Beach this week. Then she invited Burford onto the stage.

The boy was moved to tears as Stefani embraced him and the crowd cheered.

Stefani later wrote about the encounter on Facebook, saying, “About three years ago when things were hard in my life, I prayed to God every day that I could get a chance to use my gift that God gave me and make a difference in some way. Last night, this little guy was the answer to my prayers.”
