Motorcycle thefts lead to manhunt in North Naples

NAPLES, Fla.- A group of thieves broke into the Florida Motorsports shop overnight, stealing four motorcycles from inside.

A store manager says the suspects cut the locks to get inside the back of the building before taking the bikes from the service department.

“They were vehicles here for service, in our service bay which we have locked with motion detector and alarms,” said manager Orlando Aizcorb, “that’s what caused the alert and having the deputies come so quickly.”

Authorities arrived on the scene so quickly, in fact, one of the suspects crashed into a deputy’s patrol car. Two other motorcycles were later found abandoned and damaged nearby.

The thieves caused between $12,000-$15,000 in damage, Aizcorb said.

Deputies searched for the suspects along Airport Pulling Road.

One man who lives in a neighborhood nearby saw two of the suspects emerging from behind his house and alerted deputies to their location.

Three suspects were arrested shortly afterwards and are currently facing loitering charges, but detectives say more charges could be on the way.

Florida Motorsports adds the store will be taking proper steps to increase security after the incident and will be working with customers whose motorcycles were damaged.
