Burnt Store Road reopens after deadly crash

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — A flatbed truck crashed into a tree on the 13100 block of Burnt Store Road in Punta Gorda, leaving one man dead, Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened at about 8 a.m., according to FHP. The truck was the only vehicle involved, and the man killed is believed to be in his 20s or 30s, an official told WINK News.

Burnt Store Road reopened at about 11 a.m., FHP said. It had been closed in both directions between Scham Road and Tern Bay Boulevard.
