Fifth Ave. salon reopens after fire that caused evacuation

NAPLES, Fla. — A Fifth Avenue salon rallied to open Saturday after a towel caught fire in a dryer Friday afternoon, necessitating the evacuation of nearly 100 people inside.

The scene was captured on Snapchat video as clients poured out of Salons by JC at 800 Fifth Ave. S. Crews temporarily blocked off the street.

“It was overwhelming with smoke,” concierge manager Beatrice Cooper said.

Still, no one was hurt, Cooper said. The salon reopened Saturday morning.
