Pros of the field take to the hardwood for charity

NAPLES, Fla. – This weekend, stars of NFL will trade in their cleats and shoulder pads for sneakers and a chance to show their skills on the basketball court.

All for a good cause, athletes who normally throw or catch a football will try to dunk as they play basketball to raise money for the Greater Naples YMCA. The money raised at the 2nd annual NFL All-Star Basketball Game will help support YMCA summer camps in Collier County next season and God is Good Charities.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and tip off is at 6:30 p.m. on the Naples YMCA Basketball Court, with $10 tickets available for spectators and $5 for YMCA campers and members. NFL players from Lee and Collier Counties will play each other to see who can take home a victory.

Featured NFL players include former Miami Dolphin Ike Francis, also giving an inspirational speech at halftime. Also expected to attend are Tajh Boyd, Jeremy Ware, Emmanuel Lamur, Jayron Kearse, Justin Coleman, Javarris James, Makinton Dorleant and Makensie Alexander.

The Greater Naples YMCA is located at 5450 YMCA Road in Naples.
