CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A three-vehicle crash on the Cape Coral Bridge that took place at about 8 a.m. Wednesday caused delays in the eastbound lanes, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

A mattress fell from one of the vehicles and onto the road in the midst of the wreck, and that was part of the hazard, the sheriff’s office said. Eastbound traffic on Cape Coral Parkway was backed up as far back as Coronado Parkway.

It was taking drivers nine minutes to cross the bridge instead of the usual four shortly before 8:30 a.m. No further information was immediately available.
