EAST NAPLES, Fla. — A deadly two-vehicle crash that happened around 7:30 a.m. has caused a roadblock near the intersection of Rattlesnake Hammock and Sierra Meadows Drive, one block west of Collier Boulevard in East Naples, Florida Highway Patrol said.

One person was killed and another suffered serious injuries in the wreck, an FHP spokesperson said to WINK News. The injured person, whom FHP identifies as Naples resident Graciela Cruz Padron, 24, was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.

Eastbound traffic on Rattlesnake Hammock was blocked from Grand Lely Drive to Collier Boulevard before crews opened the roadway at about 10:45 a.m. Only one lane of westbound traffic was moving between Collier Boulevard and Sierra Meadows until the scene was clear.

The crash happened when a car was turning from Sierra Meadows onto Rattlesnake Hammock and collided with an SUV driven by Padron, who was traveling eastbound on Rattlesnake Hammock, the FHP spokesperson said. The driver of the car, who remains unidentified, died on scene.

FHP, Greater Naples Fire Rescue and the Collier County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash.
