E8’s future looks bright at eaglet continues to gain strength

SANIBEL, Fla.- E8’s long stay at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) may come to an end this month.

“Two months ago, we had a very bad fracture of the femur, or thigh bone, and what we see here is that has now completely healed,” said Dr. Heather Barron, who adds the eaglet has certainly come a long way. “He is now off all medications and we’ll re-check again in a couple weeks just to make sure the infection isn’t coming back.”

Barron adds the eaglet’s progress is a result of his training.

“Physical therapy, conditioning, proper feeding, nutrition,” Barron explained. “Continuing to offer him food and shelter and support while he more or less teaches himself to hunt.”
