NAPLES, Fla.- The two men found dead Thursday near the 700 block of Goodlette Road North have been identified as John Vargas, 29, and Xavier Sierra, 18, the Naples Police Department said Friday. Police responded to the area Thursday just before 3:30 p.m. to investigate reports of gunshots in the area. Both men were discovered deceased from gunshot wounds in a heavily wooded area near the Gordon River, police said. Vargas and Sierra were acquaintances and their deaths may have been the result of an argument, detectives said. “We are working diligently to provide a thorough and accurate investigation to this isolated incident while ensuring utmost safety to our community,” said Naples Police Chief Tom Weschler. The cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
