2 dead after reports of gunshots on Goodlette Rd in Naples

NAPLES, Fla. – Two men are dead after reports of gunfire near 700 Goodlette-Frank Road, according to Naples police.

Two bodies were discovered near the water in a wooded area, a source said. They were identified as men, but their names have not been released. Police said they could not confirm whether the bodies discovered had been shot but a medical examiner was on scene to determine the cause of death.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area around 3:30 p.m., according to the Naples Police Department. Police responded to the report and called for backup from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office air unit and dive team, authorities said.

Detectives and a crime scene crew were on scene. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
