PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – A local business owner is in negotiations with the Charlotte Airport Authority to reopen the once historic Three Palms Speedway, which has been sitting idle since its last tenants were evicted in September 2015. Prospective owner Janet Gentry said it will take time, hard work and more than $200,000 to get the race track back in working order. The airport advisory board will have to approve her request for ownership.
