Group of teens wanted in McGregor Reserve car thefts

Published: Updated:

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Surveillance cameras caught a group of teens stealing two cars from the McGregor Reserve community off Sommerset Drive on Saturday night.

“It’s a little disconcerting because we’ve lived here for six years and never really had any problems,” said Steve Greenfeld.

Neighbors say home surveillance cameras from several homes show the group of five just minutes before the cars were stolen.

“We have security at night but I hope they beef it up some more and control what comes in and what comes out,” said Glenda Goodwin. “There are a lot of homes and lots that are just sitting empty and dark at night, so I think it’s an invitation for people to come in.”

Residents of the community add authorities told them there’s a group of dozens of teens accused of stealing cars around Southwest Florida. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says they are aware of the group and are looking into it.
