Man facing charges for rape, trafficking of North Fort Myers teen

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Miami man is facing human trafficking and sexual battery charges after allegedly raping a North Fort Myers teen and selling her to others for sex.

The 17-year-old victim told a Plantation Police Department deputy she was prepared at one point to jump out the window of the fourth-floor hotel room in Plantation where 34-year-old Joseph Lewis kept her for two days last week. She recalled having been forced to have sex with seven or eight different men who’d paid Lewis, a police report said.

Lewis admitted to his arresting officer that the hotel room was in his name and that several texts on the girl’s phone detailing how the incident had been arranged had come from his phone number, according to the police report.
