Major service outage affects calls for Florida’s Verizon customers

Published: Updated:

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Verizon customers may experience trouble making and receiving calls during a service outage throughout the state.

The outage is impacting calls, not necessarily data or texting, officials said. Customers cannot dial a land line number currently, according to Verizon.

Collier County Sheriff’s Office asks that customers experiencing an emergency text 911. That service should work, according to Verizon.

CCSO is advising all Verizon customers to use our Text-To-911 service in the event of an emergency until further notice.

Whether customers in other states are experiencing a similar outage is unknown. The cause of the outage has not been released.
