Venice man arrested for drug trafficking

SARASOTA, Fla.- A 32-year-old man was arrested in connection to a package of drugs shipped to Venice from Hong Kong, China, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators intercepted the package at JFK International Airport and discovered more than a kilogram of Gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL) inside, authorities said.

The package was addressed to a Venice Pack and Ship and intended for pick-up by 32,year-old Francis Poling, the sheriff’s office said.

During a search warrant later executed at Poling’s house, several other chemicals believed to be controlled substances and cannabis were located inside Poling’s bedroom.

Poling is now facing charges for drug trafficking.
