1 dead after AK47 shooting at Fort Myers apartment complex

FORT MYERS, Fla. – One person is dead after being shot in the chest with a bullet from an AK47 at an apartment complex located off State Road 82 near I-75, law enforcement said.

Four people have been detained for questioning regarding the shooting, authorities said.

The Fort Myers Police Department set up crime scene tape, blocking off what appeared to be several buildings in the complex, Lexington Palms at the Forum.

A lot of people were crying. Neighbors have been asked to stay in their apartments and say they did not see anything. Apartment staff also have no idea what is happening.
