JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) – Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is welcoming the arrival of a new baby giraffe.

Zoo officials said in a statement that the reticulated female calf was born Saturday afternoon, weighing 145 pounds and 5-feet-11 inches tall.

Reticulated giraffes have large brown spots separated by cream-colored lines.

The calf is the third for the mother, Luna, and the 15th for the father, Duke. This is the 38th giraffe born at the zoo.

Zoo keepers say the mother and calf will move to the primary exhibit for limited hours likely starting on Friday going through Memorial Day weekend.

Zoo officials say the newest giraffe’s name was auctioned at ExZOOberation, the zoo’s annual fundraising gala, and will be announced soon.
