FORT MYERS, Fla. – Four new cases of the Zika virus have been confirmed in Florida, including one in Lee County, the Florida Department of Health said Wednesday.

The total cases of Zika in Lee County now stands at six.

Pregnant women are being told not to travel outside the county and one Fort Myers woman said doctors have gone as far as to advise expecting mothers to limit their domestic travel.

“Her doctor cautioned her to not come down because there was reported cases of the Zika virus in Florida,” Alicia Torres said.

Health officials said Wednesday two new Zika cases were also confirmed in Miami-Dade County and one new case was found in Orange County. Of the cases confirmed in Florida, five are still exhibiting symptoms, health officials said. All cases are travel-related.

The total number of Zika cases in Florida, not including pregnant women, is 122. An additional 36 cases of the Zika virus are involving pregnant women, according to state health officials. The World Health Organization estimates 3 to 4 million people in the Americas will be infected with the Zika virus in the next year.

Collier and Lee counties are now testing mosquitoes for the virus.
