LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- A couple has been arrested in connection to dozens of vehicle burglaries in the Lehigh Acres area, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Michael Gonzales-Galas, 32, and Sady Zaldivar, 41, are facing burglary, grand theft and fraud charges.

Detectives say during the couple’s three-month crime spree, they collected more than 50 designer purses, along with laptop computers, watches, credit cards and even a 15-horse outboard motor, stolen right off a boat parked alongside a residence.

Authorities zoned in on the suspects when a deputy spotted a suspicious vehicle at the Shell gas station at the intersection of Loop Boulevard South and Homestead Road North.

During the search of the car, deputies found items consistent with burglary tools including gloves, a flashlight and an empty backpack.

Detectives were later able to identify the couple as the same suspects previously captured on surveillance video using stolen credit cards.

Inside the couple’s home, authorities found more than 250 suspected stolen items.
