MGN CEDAR KEY, Fla. (AP) – A search continues for a Maryland man whose boat capsized in the Gulf of Mexico off Cedar Key, Florida. The Gainesville Sun reports that Gilbert Valdes was on a 23-foot boat with his brother and another man when they capsized in a fast-approaching storm on Friday. All three were wearing life jackets. On Saturday, U.S. Coast Guard crews found 50-year-old Garrick Valdes of Locust Grove, Virginia, and Bruce Smith of Alachua, Florida. They had managed to remain with the boat, but Gilbert Valdes could not. The Coast Guard handed leadership of the search to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which is keeping up the search with help from the Levy County Sheriff’s Office.
