FORT MYERS, Fla.- A man was killed in a shooting Monday morning on Blake Street near Cranford Avenue, the Fort Myers Police Department said.

The male victim, identified by family members as 34-year-old Victor Lamar Johnson, was found dead in a silver car, police said.

Officials searched for a black pickup truck with tinted windows and chrome rims in connection to the shooting. The suspect vehicle was later located at the Westchase apartments off Metro Parkway, police said.

At least two people were inside the suspect vehicle at the time of the shooting, FMPD said. Neither one has been located.

“This is a circle that goes around comes around,” said Brittany Rowles, mother to one of Johnson’s children. “I’m crying today with my son’s dad under the tent, but if these folks don’t figure this out, it’s going to be their son dead under the blue tent.”

Family members say the violence will continue unless people step up and say something.

“It don’t make no sense,” said Sharon Minor, Johnson’s relative. “Every other week a young man getting killed, every other week and it’s sad.”

Johnson had been arrested eight times previously in Lee County, including for a homicide charge in 2004.
