Police say the city has recently seen a sharp increase in car burglaries, in most cases, the vehicles were left unlocked. “Scary, it’s really scary!” said a resident whose neighbor had a gun stolen from their unlocked car in the driveway. “How am I gonna know that I’m not gonna get shot or robbed or killed?” While it’s legal to keep guns inside cars, it’s also easier for the firearms to get into the wrong hands. “Your vehicle is not under your immediate control, it’s easier to access than your home is,” said Sgt. Dana Coston with CCPD. “The offenders can be in and out in a matter of seconds.” Cape Coral Police Department warns citizens of uptick in car burglaries and reminds you to “Lock It or Lose It.” pic.twitter.com/W7a2HX5EtE — Cape Coral Police (@CapePD) May 19, 2016 Cape Coral police are reminding residents to keep cars locked and valuables out of sight.
