PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Two people were killed in separate crashes in Charlotte County early Friday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The first crash happened around 1:30 a.m. on St. Paul Drive, south of Ingraham Boulevard. Owen Anders, 55, of Port Charlotte was killed when the driver of the car he was riding in disregarded a stop sign and lost control of the vehicle, FHP said. The car struck a concrete culvert before overturning, FHP said. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending in the crash, according to FHP. Shortly after 2:30 a.m., troopers say a 67-year-old Port Charlotte woman was also killed when she rear-ended a slow moving dump truck on Interstate 75 northbound near mile marker 164. The name of the woman has not yet been released.
