1 injured in Fort Myers shooting

FORT MYERS, Fla.- One person was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a shooting on Sumter Drive, near Marsh Avenue, the Fort Myers Police Department said.

The shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. Thursday. When police arrived at the scene, the victim and vehicle had left,, police said.

The vehicle the victim was in was later pulled over on Market Street and the victim was taken to the hospital, police said.

One person in custody, police said.

“We knew what it was going to be, it’s scary here,” said Brenda Adams who lives near where the shooting occurred. “We’ve had drive-by shootings, we’ve had shootings at our home, and we have found bullets inside in the house when the cops have come.”
