FORT MYERS, Fla. – A grand jury indicted Mark Sievers and Jimmy Rodgers each on a first-degree murder charge in the killing of Dr. Teresa Sievers, the State Attorney’s Office said Wednesday evening. Both men, who were originally charged with second-degree murder, were also indicted for conspiracy to commit murder. Rodgers faces an additional charge of burglary. Rodgers and Mark Sievers will be arraigned on the new charges Monday. Both men remained in the Lee County jail Wednesday under no bond. Teresa Sievers was found bludgeoned to death inside the kitchen of the couple’s Bonita Springs home in June 2015. Investigators believe Mark Sievers, who pleaded not guilty to his original charges, planned the killing and promised Wayne Wright, his childhood friend, payment for carrying out the plan. Wright accepted a plea deal and is expected to testify against Rodgers and Mark Sievers.
