PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The local SUV driver who struck a woman pushing a baby stroller at Appleton Boulevard and Baystate Drive on April 22 will not face any charges, investigators said.

Mariah Klinefelter, 35, of Pittsburgh, Pa. was walking along the right paved portion of Appleton Boulevard while pushing a stroller with her five-month-old son in it when she was hit by a car travelling in the same direction, FHP said.

The five-month-old was transported with serious injuries but Klinefelter’s injuries were fatal, FHP said. The SUV driver, a middle-aged man who lives in the area, was not injured.

Mariah’s husband, Jeff Klinefelter told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the driver was blinded by the sunrise and that their son Noah will be discharged from the hospital in the next few days.
