CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A Cape Coral Police Department officer caught on video throwing an intoxicated woman to the ground will be temporarily suspended, the department said Friday. Captain Michael Torregrossa was in violation of department policy for conduct unbecoming of a officer, improper use of force, and failure to provide medical aid following the incident, the department said. Torregrossa received an 80-hour suspension and will have to undergo additional training to review “use of force techniques” and “responsibilities in rendering first aid,” the department added. The State Attorney’s Office determined there was no criminal conduct on the part of the officer and charges will not be filed. Torregrossa’s suspension begins on Monday.
