FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) – A South Florida man has been arrested after deputies say he was pretending to be a police officer.

Local media outlets report the Broward Sheriff’s Office says in a statement that deputies arrested 30-year-old Jeffrey Jean on Sunday after he was using flashing lights and sirens to rush through traffic.

After pulling Jean over, deputies say they found tactical law enforcement gear including a gun belt with a load handgun, a stun gun and pepper spray.

Deputies say Jean was also wearing a vest that said “public safety officer” on it.

Jean faces multiple charges including impersonating a police officer, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, reckless driving and prohibited use of lights and sirens.

It’s unclear whether he has an attorney.
