NAPLES, Fla.- Pictures of the victims will be allowed in court during the trial of a North Naples man accused of murdering his wife and five children. Mesac Damas is facing six counts of first degree murder after authorities say he slit the throats of his wife and five children in 2009. The gruesome images show how authorities found the victims the day they were murdered. Attorneys went through each picture deciding which ones will be shown to the jury. A few pictures show one of the victims tied up with tape, which attorneys for the state say shows premeditation for murder. Another photo shows one of the children with a fork in her hand. Defense attorneys were concerned the picture could be viewed as if the child had been trying to defend herself, but the judge allowed the image into evidence saying the attorney’s were speculating. Damas, who’s been known for his courtroom antics in the past such as yelling at cameras or singing in court, was very quiet on Thursday, sitting next to his attorneys with his head down. A trial date has not yet been set.
