1 dead in Hendry County crash

CLEWISTON, Fla. – One man is dead after he oversteered and his car overturned shortly after midnight on Sunday in Hendry County, according to authorities.

Todd Buchanan, 52, of Clewiston was driving south on a curve on Pioneer 21 Street when his car began to leave the roadway, traveling into a grass shoulder, Florida Highway Patrol said. Because Buchanan overcorrected, his car began to spin, then slide, authorities said. It eventually overturned, partially ejecting Buchanan, who was then pinned under the vehicle’s weight. according to FHP.

He died from his injuries at the scene, authorities said.

Officials are working to determine if alcohol was involved in the single-car accident.
