FORT MYERS, Fla.- Mark Sievers believes his mother-in-law should not receive temporary custody of his two daughters, according to court documents filed on Friday.

While Mark Sievers is in jail accused of planning the murder of his wife, Dr. Teresa Sievers, her mother, Mary Ann Groves, filed a petition in March for temporary custody of her two grandchildren.

In her petition, Groves says she has been “caring full time for the children in the role of a substitute parent,” and she’s “always had a close and loving relationship” with her two granddaughters.

Documents filed by Mark Sievers state he does not consent to Groves having temporary custody of his daughters, denying that the girls have had a close relationship with Groves.

Sievers also denies causing his daughters “severe psychological and emotional harm” as Groves claims in her petition for custody.

Mark Sievers will be in court later this month for another Department of Children and Families hearing involving custody of his children.
