Message of love resonates at Dunbar Easter parade

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Just two days after police say a 17-year-old died in a drive-by shooting, people of the Dunbar community gathered for the 72nd Annual Easter Parade.

While the neighborhood has seen its share of violence, people at the parade said the event was an opportunity to put the violence behind them and celebrate community.

“It feels great. It feels amazing to have all the people in the community out here spending this time together,” one person said.

Another parade-goer said he hoped a message of love was apparent to all who attended.

“I hope they’re paying attention to what the day is all about. And in the end everyone should be about loving each other and helping each other and trying to pull for each other and be the best we can be,” he said.
