1 arrested, 1 suspect on the loose in Fort Myers burglary

FORT MYERS, Fla.- A teenager was arrested in connection to a home burglary Tuesday on the 1700 block of Jefferson Avenue, the Fort Myers Police Department said.

The 17-year-old was charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, grand theft, and resisting an officer without violence.

Around noon Tuesday, authorities received a call about two suspicious people walking around a residence in the area. When officers arrived on the scene, the suspects fled, officials said.

The 17-year-old was later located in a business along Cleveland Avenue, but the second suspect was not found.

The owner of the home that was ransacked on Jefferson Avenue was able to identify some of the stolen items that authorities found in the suspect’s possession, police said.
