Permanent police chief named in Punta Gorda

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – The city of Punta Gorda announced its permanent police chief on Monday.

Interim Chief of Police Thomas Lewis was given the position Monday after a recommendation from City Manager Howard Kunik.

Lewis served as interim police chief following the retirement of Albert Arenal in September 2015. He joined the Punta Gorda Police Department in 1998.
